Advertising is a campaign promoting a product or idea which can persuade or interest a target audience to purchase or use products and services. The campaign may use many different forms of media to promote a message for a set amount of time.

Advertising is a form of communication with the users of a product or service. Its a way of promoting you product to your target audience to influence them to buying the product.
What can be advertised?
Any product can be advertised.
Different methods of advertising - What are the platforms?
Their are two forms of advertisement, these are Print Media and Digital Media. The Print Media consists of Newspapers and Billboards and the Digital Media consists of Social Media, Websites, Emails and Radio.
What are the earliest advertisements?
The first ever ad was for Bulova watches in 1941. It cost $9.
19th Century - June 1836 Newspaper ad - Émile de Girardin of the Paris newspaper.
Mid 19-Century - First advertisement based on a Newspaper.
In the 20th Century - advertisements came on Radio and TV.

Nike spend $1billion on advertisement each year.
Adidas spend €21.22 billion each year.
Small businesses spend about $5 million a year.
McDonald's spend $2 billion.
L'Oréal spends €7.5 billion.
What is the process?
11 step process to advertising:
- Briefing = The advertiser needs to brief about the product which needs to be advertised.
- Objectives = Knowing the purpose of the advertisement.
- Research = Finding out the competitors.
- Target Audience = Finding out your TA and who is likely to buy the product.
- Media Selection = Once you know your TA you can then decide which media to use for customers to find out information about your product.
- Budget = Setting the correct budget.
- Designing and creating the ad = Designing and Creating the outline of the ad.
- Perfection = Ad is checked before sending out to the media.
- Place and time of Ad = Where and when the ad should be shown depending on the TA.
- Execution = Ad is released.
- Performance = Judge the performance of the ad.

Evian 'Live Young':
The Video contains:
- 'Live Young' the slogan
- The Evian Logo is shown through out the video
- Bright colors to attract the audience to the video, specifically pink as it is part of their logo and because it is eye catching to the audience when the information about the product is being shown through out the advertisement as well as addressing the audience and asking rhetorical questions such as 'How does drink Evian make you feel' then showing videos of babies roller-skating to "Prove" their Slogan of 'Live Young'
- Iconic baby that is used to accentuate the campaigns message of feeling youthful when drinking Evian
- A model to show the supposed hypothetical transition from adulthood to childhood when drink Evian. To make the campaigns slogan more prominent.
- The video also includes up beat music from the early 2000s, specifically SugarHill Gang - Rappers Delight to remind the audience of their youth as well as having the babies on roller-skates which was a prominent trend during the 90s/early 2000s
The Billboard contains:
- 'Live Young' slogan
- The Evian Logo
- Iconic baby image that is used to accentuate the campaigns message of feeling youthful when drinking Evian
- A model to show the supposed hypothetical transition from adulthood to childhood when drinking Evian. Used to accentuate the 'Live Young' slogan.
How does it target different audiences:
- Gender and Age.
- Iconic baby model, that Evian is famous and known for showing the baby in order to bring to life the 'Live Young' Slogan.
- The pink color that Evian uses to advertise their brand is well known and associated with the brand because of the brands logo.
Social Media:
- Different Races, e.g. Black, Asian and white
- Different Genders
- Color scheme for twitter is plain white but still appealing to their target audience.
- Color scheme on Instagram is more colorful and is more expressive as it is showing up coming collaborations with designers Virgil Abloh.
- It also has famous models such as Luka Sabbat posing with a Evian water bottle in order to promote the brand.
Gillette: 'Boys Will Be Boys':
- The advertisement generalises that lots of men sexually assault women and make them feel uncomfortable.
- This advert is meant to encourage men to teach their sons to be better.
- Women can be just as inappropriate as men which is something that they don't show
- Different ages and race shown
- They are promoting the product.
